EPURON opens large scale photovoltaic system in La Junquera, Spain
- The photovoltaic plant in Caravaca de la Cruz has a peak output of 1.6 megawatts
- EPURON is fast becoming the leading project developer and financier for renewable projects in Spain
Hamburg/Madrid, April 18, 2007: EPURON GmbH, one of the leading international development and financing companies of large-scale renewable energy projects, has implemented a large scale photovoltaic system in Caravaca de la Cruz with a peak output of 1.6 MW. SunTechnics, Europe's leading full-service supplier of renewable energy solutions, was entrusted with the coordination construction and planning. Both EPURON and SunTechnics are affiliated with the listed company Conergy AG, the world's market leader for solar power systems.
The La Junquera photovoltaic plant is situated in the centre of the Murcia region, where solar irradiation levels are among the highest in Spain. The annual energy output of the plant is approximately 3.2 million kWh and is able to power up to 970 households which will save 2,300 tons of CO2 emissions. Three-hundred sun-tracking systems equipped with 9,000 Conergy modules C175M were built on an area the size of 15 football fields (10 hectares).
Development to market leader for large scale solar projects
At the moment, EPURON is planning and developing numerous projects in Spain which will be partly implemented this year. "We have developed remarkably well in the Spanish market in recent months. With a combination of international financing expertise and co-operation with local partners, we have established ourselves among the leading companies that finance and implement large-scale photovoltaic power plants in Spain“, said Thomas-Tim Saevecke, managing director of EPURON and responsible for solar activities. He continued to explain the encouraging results, "Spain, like Germany, has recognised the importance of renewable energy and is promoting it on a large scale. We will continue to give our full commitment to the generation of clean energy and the reduction of CO2 emissions.”
With new offices in Madrid, EPURON has helped to strengthen the rapid growth of the Spanish
market. EPURON will continue to develop photovoltaic power plants and expand its project
pipeline directly from its Madrid and Almeria subsidiaries.
